It’s important that the vascular doctor you choose is properly licensed and certified, with many years of proven experience in the field. Contact a few different vascular surgeons to get contact information, services, education background and availability. Target your search to surgeons who operate out of hospitals you trust, and who specialize in what you need. Make sure the hospital carries your insurance. When wondering how to choose the right vascular surgery, and therefore, surgeon for you, check out each surgeon’s background. Find out how long they have been in practice, what schooling they’ve had, what their clinic hours are, and what their availability is. Find out if the doctor, physician or surgeon is properly licensed and has a clean record. You can go online to research doctors’ backgrounds. Look into what is involved in procedures such as endovascular surgery using a catheter, or what is involved in vein stripping for varicose veins. You’ll learn that blood vessels and veins provide circulation of blood to the body’s organs, such as heart and brain. When meeting with each vascular surgeon, chat with him or her to find out which procedures are right for you, which may include reconstruction, repair, medical treatment, peripheral vascular surgery or endovascular surgery. This last technique can help doctors and surgeons diagnose conditions such as heart disease and chronic venous insufficiency, while also being able to avert aneurysms and aorta ruptures. Once doctors know about any venous blockages or other conditions, they can provide a course of medical, surgical, or therapy treatment to help repair the disease and damage to veins, vessels, and arteries. You want to choose a surgeon that not only has the proper health training and education, but also one that has a great bedside manner and one you feel comfortable with.
